House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday suggested that President Bush should skip the opening ceremonies of the Olympics to be held in August in Beijing to protest China’s actions in Tibet, its overall human rights record and its trade policies.

This is the best that the Democratic party can think of to deal with human rights violations in China, a boycott of the Opening Ceremonies? Hey, why not do as ex-President Democrat Jimmy Carter did and boycott the Olympics altogether.

To attend would only give legitimacy to the Chinese regime, and to abstain from participation would be a bold statement against oppression that continues even to this day.
